Indigenous Urbanism and Cultural Design Services
Through our personal journey of becoming regenerative development practitioners, we have had the great privilege of being mentored and trained by First Nations representatives in North America, Australia, and Aotearoa New Zealand. This has profoundly influenced our worldview and shaped our understanding of sustainability not as a Western contrived technical concept, but a way of being, knowing, and understanding our role as custodians of life. We firmly believe that Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Traditional Ecological Practices are at the epicenter of solutions needed to address key social, ecological, and economic challenges of our time.
In 2017, Urban Apostles established a partnership with Flying Fish Blue to provide public and private sector clients with Indigenous cultural design and consulting services. Our unique methodology enables our clients to move beyond tokenistic acknowledgment toward respectful and meaningful integration of Aboriginal culture and ideology into the master-planning, design, and governance of new buildings and communities so that all people establish a strong connection to Country.
